Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Karsten UK, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that long-term success depends on creating value responsibly – for our planet, our business, and our people. That’s why we’ve developed a clear sustainability framework built around three key pillars: Planet, Business, and People.

Through these pillars, we focus on reducing our environmental impact, operating with integrity and resilience, and supporting the wellbeing and development of everyone connected to our work. This approach ensures that we not only meet the needs of today, but also safeguard the future for generations to come.

Karsten Group Wins Sustainability Award

All the team at Karsten are thrilled to celebrate a major achievement for the Karsten Group, who have been honoured with the inaugural Sustainability Award from BAMA Gruppen AS, Norway’s largest private distributor of fruit and vegetables.

The award was presented during Fruit Attraction Madrid, one of the most significant events in the global fresh produce calendar.

According to BAMA, the Sustainability Award was determined through a comprehensive survey of their 40 largest suppliers worldwide. The evaluation covered a wide range of criteria, including climate impact, soil health, biodiversity, water management, food waste reduction, circularity, and working conditions on farms.

What set the Karsten Group apart, BAMA explained, was its extraordinary ability to combine long-term vision with tangible, measurable results—delivering positive impacts not only for the environment, but also for people and communities. The Group, they said, represents a true benchmark for what responsible supply chains can and should look like.

The Karsten Group has developed one of the most advanced systems for monitoring and improving soil health and biodiversity within the BAMA supplier network. These initiatives are grounded in science and driven by continuous measurement and innovation. Equally, the Group’s dedication extends beyond the land, with a deep commitment to the wellbeing of its employees and their families—providing access to housing, childcare, healthcare, and education.

This latest recognition follows the Karsten Group’s previous honour as BAMA’s Supplier of the Year, reinforcing its reputation as a global leader in sustainable agriculture and ethical supply chains.
